A year in Italian
Learning the stage
Every rehearsal, exercise and note was in Italian. I was learning how to perform while also learning the language I had to perform in.
The production

The play moves between the present and the real 1603–1604 trial of Lucrezia Verzaia, a healer accused of witchcraft in the Valtiberina. I played Tommy, an English buyer who arrives to turn the old hospital at the centre of the story into a resort.

We sold out the theatre and still had people waiting outside. After a year of rehearsals, the final night disappeared remarkably quickly.
